The Gumball 3000 Rally arrived in Quebec City and the FuelRiders Team was there ready to get the first snaps. We showed up at Chateau Frontenac early in the day to meet up with the Gumball Staff that was already there and we then given access to the Gumball parking garage.
Jon Olsson’s LP670-4 SV Lamborghini and Brett Landes’ Bugatti Veyron were the main attraction of all the supercars that arrived. It wasn’t the first Veyron I’ve seen, but it was truly breathtaking. As for Olsson’s lambo, I must say it’s wicked!
We met many of the Gumballers and heard some wild stories of their drive up to Canada. Some of them reported that a Quebec police chopper flew down onto the highway in front of a few supercars and took some pictures before flying back up. They were a bit crazy. To add to this, police were hiding behind EVERY overpass or u-turn and made sure to stop any people going over the speed limit.
We spoke to Tony Hawk and he told us that he got a few tickets between Boston and Quebec. Ivar Bruvoll Vamråk from Team Betsafe also got a whopping ticket and his radar detector got taken away not too long after entering Canada. It was quite difficult for people to avoid trouble with the cops, luckily we showed up to Quebec before the officers positioned themselves. We were able to cruise an average of 150km/h with minimal traffic, while our friends whom arrived later in day, stayed at a steady 110km/h.
It was a great day, and the Rally attract a lot of attention in the area. Here are some unedited pictures from the arrival.
