Deutschfest 2011 – Sherbrooke Quebec

Last weekend, we drove down to Sherbrooke for the annual Deutschfest. This year, they changed locations to a larger venue to accommodate the large number of people that were to attend. VAG Enthusiasts from all over Quebec, Ontario, and even from New Hampshire came to attend the event. Same pretty impressive rides were there, including a Mercedes SLS, MK2s with shaved engine bays, and slammed wagons. Last in the evening called for some drag racing and a burnout contest. Unitronic’s Audi A3 put on a great show burning rubber on their Rotiform BLQs.

MKV GTI 2009 Black Magic

This unique TSI engine is currently pushing 407HP @ 20 PSI on a stock fueling system! Once the High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) and injectors are upgraded, it will blast about 500HP @ 25PSI without w/m. This is the only GTI TSI in North America running a GT30 Big turbo Unitronic Stage 3! The upgraded parts are in their prototyping stage and we hope to soon see them on this Volks.

Wolfsgart 2011 – Air and Water-Cooled Festival

Unitronic Chipped was the title of this year’s Wolfsgart held in Burlington, Vermont. This three day Air & Water-Cooled Festival attracted all generations of Volkswagens and Audis. From Beetles to Type 2s and 4s to more recent models on bags and even a Phaeton. The show gathered people from all over the North East to bring a weekend filled with a laid back atmosphere.

BagRiders kicked off the weekend with a BBQ, followed with a performance by the Drop Kick Murphys. Saturday started off early with the show and shine, with several activities during the day including the car limbo competition. The afternoon called for a cruise out to the beautiful Vermont country side, over the scary Smugglers Notch and back to Al’s French Fries for some Fries and Homemade Ice Cream. The show ended Sunday with another show’n'shine and with the Trophy Ceremony for the best cars in their class.

This year, we took a different approach in covering Waterfest. Instead of checking out the vendors and the rides in the parking lot, we actually went to the ones part of the show and shine. They were all pretty impressive to look at. More time was spent filming than taking pictures, so here is what we came up with. Full DVD is in the works and will be released ASAP.

Orangeball Rally 2011 – Montreal to Waterfest 17

This year marked the fifth annual Orangeball Rally. The drive that gathers 50 or so Volkswagens and Audis from Montreal to the ever so big, Waterfest. A lot of new faces this year, and many old ones, we all took on the path to New Jersey.

We tried to book at the same hotel as last year, but unfortunately Ramada has banned all Montrealers from their establishment. We were not sure beforehand what this meant, but we soon found out the whole deal once we got into town. Essentially, the city was prepared for us. Apparently, we were notorious for all the crazy parties, burnouts, shenanigans, and drunken behaviors. Out of all the 20 000 or so enthusiasts that invade the town, we were targeted as the ringleaders of the awesomeness that goes on. It was thanks to us that the cops closed down the Chili’s meet, the Ramada burnout party, and all other small gatherings throughout the run down cities surrounding Englishtown.

This is our first picture set of the 2011 Waterfest event. This 17th edition of the car show attracted many thousands of Volkswagen enthusiasts from all over the world. Here is our view of the Unitronic Chipped booth of that hot weekend. Every single car in their lot had a story behind it, along with a great build process. Enjoy these pictures, as more are to come! We will still have to cover the Orangeball Rally, along with the rest of the show.

Don’s Big Turbo 1.8T MK4 Jetta

During our stay at Southern Worthersee in Helen, Georgia, I got to meet Don Thurston and his famous Jetta up close. His ride is unlike any other and is a perfect example of cleanly modded car. It has been featured in both Eurotuner and Performance Volkswagen magazines, as well as several online websites such as Canibeat and AirSociety.

At first glance it may seem like an ordinary MKIV, but a lot of work and sweat has been put in by Don in his home garage. Shaved and tucked engine bay, CCW Classics, GT3076R from CTS Turbo, Unitronic Chipped Stage 3 Performance Software, Bora R front and rear bumpers, Bagyard Air Ride kit, Recaro seats, and the list just goes on. What is fascinating to see is the transformation it has gone through. Don bought the car years ago completely stock and has been working on it ever since. The first image below is how it looked like the day he first brought it home.

Eurokracy 2011 Video Feature

Our third video this week! This time we showcase Montreal’s Finest Euro Show; Eurokracy. People from many parts of the NorthEast drove up to Autodrome St-Eustache to attend the first edition of the event. It was a great success despite the rainy weather. Many dope slammed rides were spotted, even a Twin Turbo 1000HP Lamborghini Galardo worked on by a local shop, Autobar.

The 2011 Southern Worthersee video is here! As many have known, we drove down to Georgia all the way from Montreal, Canada. We soon found out we weren’t the only ones making this long trek. There were many people from all parts of the United States that drove down hours and hours to make it to this magnificent car show.
